ePOD Modul: F&M secures supply chain management with the electronic proof of delivery solution for VAS
FRITZ & MACZIOL the provider of the VAS® IT-Logistic solution of choice by more than 200 industrial plants worldwide has successfully implemented a new module at its customers in Southeast Asia, that allows to secure the final step of delivery in the supply chain. The need to be in full control of shipments that are leaving a cement plant, was the kick-off for LafargeHolcim in Southeast Asia, to add another important feature to their logistical dispatch solution VAS®. So far VAS® managed the online pre-registration of trucks (iDISPO), the queing management of trucks in the plants parking facilities, the call to entry, the complete entry process incl. registration and truck weighing, the loading process and exit process of the trucks incl. the exit weighing and automated delivery document print-out within a plants truck dispatch process. In order to control the delivery status, the current position of the shipment and the final delivery, LafargeHolcim decided to expand the range of its VAS® IT Logistic solution by adding the module Electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD). The ePOD module allows dedicated plant personnel to be in full control of a shipment, even when the truck has already left the plant. By simply logging into a web browser, the user can access VAS® and is able to review the shipment details at any time from any place. Being also adapted to mobile devices e.g. smartphones via HTML5, the truck driver is able to request a delivery signature on screen of his mobile device, which is stored into the VAS® database and allocated to the concerned shipment. CIBEX East Africa Conference 2016
The continuing growth of VAS in Africa, led to the attendance of FRITZ & MACZIOL at the CIBEX East Africa Conference (international trade show for construction, infrastructure, building and energy) in Nairobi, Kenya on the 01st of March 2016. Mr. Claus Jordan, Director for Business Development at FRITZ & MACZIOL joined a delegation of high tech company representatives under the umbrella of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology for this event. For FRITZ & MACZIOL the African continent is of high interest. Holcim Morocco counts on the IT-Logistic Solution VAS®
After the implementation of VAS® in the Holcim plants in the Philippines and Indonesia, the IT-Logistic Solution was implemented successful in Morocco by Holcim for the first time. The pilot installation was undertaken in the cement plant Settat, which is located between Casablanca and Marrakesh. The project was carried out on the basis of the „Global Framework Agreement“, that Holcim and FRITZ & MACZIOL have sealed two years ago. Since June, the VAS® system runs successfully. The start of production was realized in the second quarter of the current year. After the successful implementation in Settat, the Morocco Holcim plants in Oujda, Fes and Nador are supposed to be the next plants to be equipped with VAS®. Besides the software and services, FRITZ & MACZIOL delivered the full infrastructure for the project. YAMAMA Saudi Cement Company in Ulm for VAS® Training
One of the largest cement producers worldwide, the YAMAMA Saudi Cement Company (YSCC) based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia works with the VAS IT Logistic solution of FRITZ & MACZIOL (F&M) for more than 10 years. Currently YSCC plans to build a new site (2x 10.000 tato) and sent specialists of their organization to the F&M headquarters in Ulm, Germany in order to get familiar with the VAS solution. Besides the daily hard working routine, also the typical Swabian hospitality in form of local delicacies and a visit to the world tallest church steeple, the Ulm Minster formed a part of the YSCC visit. Another form of sightseeing, however which was rather work oriented was a trip to Lengerich were the group visited a plant of the German cement company Dyckerhoff GmbH which is equipped with the VAS solution in the fields of Entry/Exit Truck Automation and online truck planning (iDISPO). The YSCC visit to Germany was perceived as a very positive meeting and was continued for a second time in September 2015.

Regional showcase for F&M Asia in the Philippines
In close cooperation with the IAS team from Ulm the F & M Asia team can now be proud about the successful Go Live of the VAS® template solution for the five Holcim plants in the Philippines. The successfull and smooth roll-out of the "Phase 2 - Project" was completed to the full satisfaction of the customer.
And we continue. Already for the third quarter of 2015 two further HOLCIM plants as well as the implementation of additional VAS® modules are planned. Above all, both teams are pleased with the very latest signed service contracts with the HOLCIM PH. Thus the 24x7 hotline as well as software maintenance can be assured for the customer in an intercontinental cooperation.
Now more companies in Asia have to be inspired to use VAS®. For this the F & M Asia team will be strengthened in sales; with a joint visit to the South-East Asian Cement Association´s congress, the AFCM in Vietnam Mrs. Corinne Johnson (Team Asia) and Marc Brida (Team Ulm) have started to work actively together on the Asian market.

Ulm / Casablanca, 26th February 2014. With the introduction of the IT-Logistic solution VAS of Fritz & Macziol, Ciments de l'Atlas (CIMAT) which is located in Casablanca, will continuously automatize the processes in its Moroccan plants.
The implementation is carried within the scope of a KPI-Project, in which all processes have been analysed initially. Following, VAS is used to identify and eliminate weak spots by illustrating the potentials of optimisation. This for example can be achieved by detailed VAS reports e.g. about the length of stay of trucks at all kinds of locations within the plant. The next step is the systematic conversion of fully automating the logistics of the two Moroccan cement plants - including the integration of the central SAP systems. Another plant, which is currently in construction in Nador, is to be equipped with the IT-Logistic solution VAS after its completion. „For CIMAT this is a big step in the optimisation of our processes, as with VAS we have found a system that covers our conceptual, functional and technological requirements best“, as Rachid Lahbara, Direction Performances et Investissements of CIMAT, describes the reasons for the decisions. VAS is in great demand in the Asian cement industry
Ulm, 25 March 2013. After FRITZ & MACZIOL was awarded the order to implement VAS, the logistics solution for the cement and bulk goods industry, in five HOLCIM Philippines plants last summer, another order has been received in Indonesia. VAS is to be introduced at the newly constructed HOLCIM plant Tuban this year. Further orders in Indonesia, Thailand and also in Myanmar – previously Burma, which only opened up economically in 2011 – are on the horizon. Because of this strong demand, the Industrial Applications & Services Division has now decided to set up a separate team at FRITZ & MACZIOL Asia in Manila. Initially with two developers and a technical sales employee, customers in future will be looked after directly on site. In addition, the employees in Manila can also provide 24-hour support for European VAS users. "Because of the construction boom, a large number of new plant are currently being built in Asia on 'green field sites'. With the successful placement of the VAS logistics solution in two cement plants belonging to Holcim (Russia), FRITZ & MACZIOL has now been able to further build up its position in the Russian market. The VAS system already started operations in the Holcim plant in Volsk in summer 2012. Now the Shurovskyi plant at the Kolomna location is following. Russia is implementing real time monitoring in VAS 5 Holcim through which truck routes can be transparently traced through the various stations. "In this way Holcim is now in a position to optimally use the capacities of the logistics infrastructure – such as loading ramps -, control material flows better and automate relevant shipping processes," emphasised Johann Gastgeber, the project manager responsible at FRITZ & MACZIOL.
The extreme temperatures were a particular challenge for the technology used. Temperatures can fall to -40 degrees centigrade in winter. Therefore FRITZ & MACZIOL had to install terminals and processors that can also work under these conditions at all workplaces used outside. Both VAS installations are also connected to the central SAP system in Madrid, through which all orders are administered. On site VAS has taken over the processing of deliveries, shipping and printing the associated documents, such as delivery notes, and transmits all the data to the central system again in the end. "An important argument in favour of our solution was also the extensive evaluation possibilities. Thus, Holcim (Russia) will not only be in a position to exactly trace the utilisation of the individual logistics stations, but will also be able to prepare differentiated material statistics. Ulm, 26th November 2012. FRITZ & MACZIOL started its business operations on 27th November 1987 with 17 employees. Heribert Fritz, together with co-founder Eberhard Macziol, summarised the basic idea behind the company: “First and foremost, we wanted to provide a comprehensive service to mid-sized companies in everything to do with IT (at that time still EDP) with a team of well-trained individuals. The ability to offer our customers hardware, software and services from a single source at that time was revolutionary”. Using this new business concept and IBM as a strong manufacturing partner, the foundation was laid for a successful future. 1,000 employees. This figure fits perfectly with the forthcoming 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated at the end of November with an internal event for all employees (more information to follow
in mid-November). “A happy incident, which must be a good omen for our continued growth. So far this year we are absolutely on schedule” – reflects Heribert Fritz – Managing Director of FRITZ &
MACZIOL - happily. The company is also growing in terms of office space. With the acquisition of an office building directly opposite the main building in Ulm, which had become available by chance,
1,200 additional square metres are now available. It provides space for around 80 employees. “The expansion at the Ulm site was needed to resolve the lack of space, which will also be used to enlarge
the training programmes offered in Ulm.” The leap into the four-figure employee bracket also represents a confirmation of FRITZ & MACZIOL as an employer, as far as James Johnson, manager of human
resources, is concerned. “The growth shows that our appeal as an employer has not diminished. And this despite the increasing shortage of qualified staff, which is especially affecting the IT

The rooms are now equipped with the latest technology. In addition to WLAN, VoIP telephones and new energy-efficient computers, the data connection to the servers in the main building, for example, uses fibre optic cables with a high data throughput and low latency. The conference room has a 360-degree camera, which means that all participants can be in the shot for a web conference.

Following the successful startup in their cement plants Esch (LUX) and Göllheim (DE), Dyckerhoff AG, a company rich in tradition, has now commenced with the international rollout of FRITZ & MACZIOL's logistics solution VAS®. The new system is currently being implemented on the basis of a template in a further cement plant in Germany, as well as at the plants in the Ukraine. In several workshops, the different requirements of the plant's processes were analyzed and redefined. The template rollout is now being launched at all sites on the basis of these newly optimized and harmonized logistics processes. This is especially essential for the value flows between VAS® and Dyckerhoff AG's central SAP® system. Since 2004, Dyckerhoff AG has belonged to the Italian Buzzi Unicem Group. "We conduct a major part of the logistic procresses using SAP®. A significant criterionin selecting the new solution was the approved and easy interconnectionto the SAP® Sales and Distribution module.
